Description
KHF contains a proprietary blend of minerals designed to continuously and effectively eliminate algae. The specially treated alloy cylinder is packed with KHF granular formulation. These minerals dissolve from the cylinder and form a stable residual throughout the pool water. The minerals help keep low levels of chlorine more active and productive in the water. During the pool's filtration process, the minerals are rejuvenated each time they return through the cylinder. Granular minerals are lost through algae kill, backwashing, splash out, and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. KHF works with a constant low level of chlorine. Residential: 0.5 to 1.0 ppm; Commercial: 1.0 to 5.0 ppm.

Quick Start Guide
Minerals dissolve into the water within 3 to 4 hours. Keep the unit in the pool after the minerals dissolve. It is okay to swim once the unit is placed in the water.
Pre-installation
- Test the water for metals such as copper or iron. If levels are above 0.2 ppm, address them before use.
- Choose the correct product size based on total pool gallons.
- Start with a clean filter.
- Set your filter correctly.
- Keep water pH between 7.2 and 7.8.
- Check that chlorine is below 10.0 ppm.
Installation
Place the unit in the skimmer, where there is good water flow, or in the pump basket.
Post-installation
- Maintain a clean filter to capture dead algae.
- Maintain chlorine at 0.5 to 1.0 ppm with clear water.
- If the pool is green or cloudy, maintain chlorine at 2.0 ppm until it clears.
- Do not shock the pool unless chlorine is low.
- Maintain water pH between 7.2 and 7.8.
No additional algaecides or specialty chemicals, such as phosphate removers or sequestration agents, are needed. Do not use with bromine or biguanide products.
Useful Tips
Minerals dissolve into the water within 3 to 4 hours. Replace the unit every 4 to 6 months. Mineral life depends on algae kill, backwashing, and splash out.
Efficient filtration
Keep the filter clean to capture dead algae. A clean filter helps the KHF minerals work efficiently and reduces vacuuming and brushing caused by algae.
Green to clear
If you are starting with a dirty pool, backwash or clean the filter every few days.
Copper levels with KHF
It is normal for copper levels to rise with KHF products. KHF minerals use a chelation process that binds to metals at a molecular level, allowing copper, silver, and zinc to remain in the water without staining concerns.
Chlorine and other chemicals
KHF makes chlorine more active, so only small amounts of chlorine are typically needed when water is clear. Do not let pH rise above 7.8. Do not add other algaecides or phosphate removers.
Not compatible with bromine or biguanide products.
Recommended filter settings
Sand filter
- Backwash and rinse until the filter is clean.
- Switch the filter to Bypass or Re-Circulate.
- Add the unit in the skimmer or pump basket.
- Run the pool for a full 12-hour cycle.
- Return the filter to Filter after 12 hours.
DE filter
- Clean the filter completely.
- Add the minimum required amount of DE. Do not overpack the filter.
- Place the unit in the skimmer.
- Run the pool for 6 to 12 hours or a full cycle.
Cartridge filter
- Remove and clean the cartridge.
- Place the unit in the skimmer or pump basket.
- Run the pool for 6 to 12 hours or a full cycle.
- Return the cartridge after the run cycle.
Directions for Use
Use this product only as directed on its label. Clean or backwash the filter before adding KHF and ensure proper water flow from the skimmer and pump basket. Place the KHF unit in the pump basket or skimmer, ideally in the pump basket for increased water flow.
Add the unit when the pump has at least 3 to 4 hours left in its run cycle. This helps the minerals dissolve through the filter and pool. Run the pump during the heat of the day and circulate the pool's total water volume at least 1.5 times per day. This generally requires 6 to 8 hours of pump runtime, depending on pool volume and pump flow rate.
For best results, start each season with a new KHF pool unit. Add a KHF booster when chlorine demand increases, algae growth occurs, or the water looks dull.
