Description
KHF contains a proprietary blend of minerals that continuously and effectively eliminate algae. The specially treated alloy cylinder is packed with KHF granular formulation. These minerals dissolve from the cylinder and form a stable residual throughout the pool water. The minerals help keep low levels of chlorine more active and productive in the water. During the pool's filtration process, the minerals are rejuvenated each time they return through the cylinder. Granular minerals are lost through algae kill, backwashing, splash out, and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. KHF works with a constant low level of chlorine. Residential: 0.5 to 1.0 ppm; Commercial: 1.0 to 5.0 ppm.
Active ingredients

Quick Start Guide
All minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3 to 4 hours. Keep the unit in the pool even after minerals are dissolved. It is okay to swim as soon as the unit is placed in the water.
Pre-installation
- Test the water for metals such as copper or iron. If levels are above 0.2 ppm, address them before use.
- Choose the right KHF product based on the pool or spa total gallons of water.
- Start with a clean filter.
- Set your filter correctly.
- Check that pH is between 7.2 and 7.8.
- Check that chlorine is below 10.0 ppm.
Installation
Place the unit in the skimmer, where there is good water flow, or in the pump basket.
Post-installation (maintenance)
KHF minerals will start eliminating algae once completely dissolved in the water.
- Maintain a clean filter at all times to capture dead algae.
- Maintain a chlorine level of 0.5 to 1.0 ppm with KHF products.
- If the pool is green or cloudy, maintain a chlorine level of 2.0 ppm until it clears.
- Do not shock unless necessary, even if the chlorine level is low.
- Maintain water pH between 7.2 and 7.8.
No additional algaecides or specialty chemicals, such as phosphate removers or sequestration agents, are needed. Do not use with bromine or biguanide products.
KHF has an NSF 50 certification for safety and quality.
Useful Tips
Minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3 to 4 hours. Replace the unit every 4 to 6 months. Mineral longevity is determined by algae kill, backwash, and splash out.
Efficient filtration
Keep the filter clean to capture dead algae. Keeping the filter clean is critical for KHF products to work efficiently and help capture dead algae in the circulation process. This can reduce the vacuuming and brushing of algae on pool or spa surfaces.
Green to clear
If you are starting with a dirty spa or pool, backwash or clean the filter every few days.
Copper levels with KHF
It is normal if copper levels rise with KHF products. KHF minerals use a chelation process that binds to metals at a molecular level. This allows higher levels of copper, silver, and zinc in the water without staining concerns.
This formula and chelation process make KHF products effective against algae and bacteria while reducing the need for high chlorine levels. Adding stain-control products is not necessary.
Chlorine and other chemicals
KHF products make chlorine more active. Therefore, only small amounts of chlorine are necessary when the water is clear. Do not let pH go above 7.8, as it would make the chlorine ineffective. If the pool is clear, do not shock the water even if chlorine levels are low. Do not add other algaecides or phosphate removers.
Not compatible for use with bromine or biguanide products.
Recommended filter settings (to optimize mineral flow)
Sand filter
- Backwash and rinse filter until it is clean.
- Switch the gear from Filter to Bypass / Re-Circulate.
- Add the unit in the skimmer or pump basket.
- Let the pool run for a full cycle of 12 hours.
- Place the gear back to Filter after 12 hours of run cycle.
DE filter
- Clean filter completely.
- Add the minimum required amount of DE. Do not overpack the filter so minerals do not get caught in the filter.
- Place the unit in the skimmer.
- Run the pool for 6 to 12 hours or a full run cycle.
Cartridge filter
- Remove the cartridge from the filter housing and clean it.
- Place the unit in the skimmer or pump basket.
- Run the pool for 6 to 12 hours or a full run cycle.
- Place the cartridges back into the filter after 6 to 12 hours or a full run cycle.
Directions for Use
Use this product only in a manner consistent with its labeling. Clean or backwash your filter before adding KHF and remove all debris from the skimmer and pump basket. Place the KHF pool unit into the pump basket or skimmer. Ideally, place it in the pump basket for increased water flow.
Add the KHF pool unit when the pump has at least 3 to 4 hours left on its run cycle. This helps granular minerals dissolve from the unit and through the filter into the pool. Run the pump during the heat of the day. Your pool should turn over its total volume of water at least 1.5 times per day. This generally requires 6 to 8 hours of pump runtime depending on gallons of water and pump flow rate.
For best results, start with a new KHF pool unit every year. Minerals are lost from algae kill, backwashing, splash out, and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan.
